The six of us sit close to the fire. Some to warm themselves, some just to be near the light and all of us for the company. We are huddled here in this cold, quiet place waiting and knowing that soon we will be all that stands between a world full of life and an eternity of darkness. The six of us have two things in common; we were all born sometime from mid-July through the end of August during the Perseid meteor shower, though on different years and we all have a handicap that is our gift, our talent. My name is Laya, and this is my story, the story of what led me to this place. Born completely deaf, Laya's world is not defined by what she can see, smell, taste and touch, it is defined by the music that surrounds and moves through her. Endowed with an ability that exceeds anything in human experience, Laya must learn to control her power before it destroys her and all around her and, at the same time, must fashion it as a weapon against the greatest threat the world has ever known. One of the six heroes chosen to stand against the darkness, Laya will Sing and it will change the destiny of our world forever. Reality Is Not What You Think.
